The Call

DD

So last week we had something crop up that we couldn’t have imagined, we only had the BBC call us up!
We were lucky enough to be asked if we wanted to go on the Dragons Den and pitch for investment! So to start with we were a little blown away, by the fact they were calling a relatively small eco casual wear company; here was us thinking you had to have some mad invention to get on the show, let alone be phoned and asked to go on it!

Anyway after some deliberation we decided to turn down the offer, as we have always prided ourselves on getting this far without having some massive investment fund behind us.  We’ve also spent months going round speaking to students about how a business can be started without having pots of money.  But started on passion and a truly brilliant idea.  Furthermore, we believe in a relaxed attitude towards business, yes we work hard, but we don’t feel a suit and tie is required for this, we roll up to work in our t-shirts and jeans, and feel by getting those from a corporate environment involved, it would make us as bland as any other company out there, and we would then have to start running things the way others (investors) see best, despite the fact we know our customers better than anyone.  All in all, we decided that it was more important to stay true to our ethos, to run things our way and remain different to any other brand out there, than to try and make lots of money through pitching.  We want to grow as a result of doing what we love our way and making our customers happy, not because of massive investment from a TV show.
